Tailored Materials

Tailored materials are a Pro tool that takes a specific job posting plus your uploaded resume and generates two artifacts you can send:

  • A cover letter written for the role.
  • A tailored resume — the same core resume, with bullet emphasis and ordering adjusted to match what the posting actually asks for.

How to generate

Start from any job on the job board, a saved job, or a tracked application — anywhere we link to a specific role. With a resume on file (upload at /resume), pick Generate tailored materials on the job. The cover letter and tailored resume are produced together, attached to the role, and surfaced from the application tracker card for that job. Jobs that already have generated materials show a Materials ready badge on the board so you can find them again.

Daily quota

  • Free — not available. The job board still shows the materials badge as a preview, but generation requires Pro.
  • Pro10 generations per day. One generation produces both the cover letter and the tailored resume for a single job; regenerating an existing pair counts as one.

Interview prep shares the same 10/day cap — see Tracker & Negotiation Brief. When you hit the cap, the feature pauses until the next day; raise your ceiling in Settings → Billing if you want to keep going under metered overage. See Pricing & Billing for how overage works.

Where the materials live

Generated materials are stored against the job they were tailored to. You'll see them in two places:

  • The job card on the job boardshows a “Materials ready” badge when you've tailored that job.
  • The application tracker attaches the cover letter and tailored resume to the application card.

Re-running generation on the same job replaces the existing pair — you always have one current cover letter + tailored resume per job, not a version history.

Privacy

Tailored materials are private to your account. The resume parsing that powers them is a one-shot extraction stored on your account; we don't share it with employers and we don't use it to train models. Delete your resume any time at /resume — see Resume Match for the wider resume-driven feature surface.

When generation refuses

If a job posting is too thin to tailor against (no responsibilities or requirements text), generation will refuse and not consume a quota slot. The fix is usually a different posting for the same role.
